BEEF SAUSAGE ROLLS
@kizzy.cooks
• 1kg beef mince
• 1 brown onion, finely grated
• 2 cloves garlic, crushed
• 3/4 panko crumbs
• 1 egg
• 2 tbsp tomato sauce
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 2 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp smoked paprika
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp black pepper
• 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
PASTRY
• 5 sheets puff pastry, thawed
• 1 egg, beaten, for brushing
• 1 tbsp sesame seeds
• 1 tbsp nigella seeds
Preheat oven to 200°C (fan-forced). Line two baking trays with baking paper. Add the beef mince, grated onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, pepper and parsley to a large bowl. Mix until well combined, but avoid overmixing as this can make the filling dense. Cut each sheet of puff pastry in half lengthways. Divide the beef mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into a long sausage shape down the centre of each pastry strip. Roll the pastry over the filling and seal. Cut each long roll into 4 pieces to create mini sausage rolls. Place seam-side down on the prepared trays. Brush generously with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds and nigella seeds. Bake for 25–30 minutes until the pastry is puffed, golden and the filling is cooked through. Serve warm with tomato sauce or your favourite dipping sauce.
As always, enjoy..💁🏻♀️
